Color Refresh 2013

Every three to five years Stampin’ Up! evaluates their Color Collections to make sure they are current with the latest trends. They recently announced that with the release of the new catalog on June 1st they will be doing a Color Refresh. They will be retiring some of their current colors, bring back some past “In Colors” and adding a new color “Smoky Slate”. With this Color Refresh they are also moving some colors to a different color collections.

Color Refresh 2013

I am the most excited about some of the returning In Colors – Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder, and Pool Party.

With this Color Refresh there are several products that will be retiring. Make sure to order your retiring accessories before they are sold out! Click here to shop now.

Dear Mother Nature…Seriously?

seriously lovely as a tree

Dear Mother Nature-

I think you may have turned your calendar the wrong direction. It is MAY. Easter has passed and Mother’s Day is just over a week away. The new Stampin’ Up! catalog release is less than a month away. So why do I feel like singing .. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…”?

snow

A snow storm went through our area Wednesday night and dumped several inches of heavy wet snow. The sadest part about the storm is that the snow was so heavy that is did a lot of damage to many trees. Our gigantic evergreen tree in front of our house lost several branches from the weight of the snow. We will have to wait for the snow to melt to see the extent of the damage.

For my card to Mother Nature I used the stamp set Lovely as a Tree (115026 wood/127793 clear).  I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter (102023) to the trees with a two-way glue pen  (100425). The “Seriously” sentiment is from this month’s Paper Pumpkin subscription. Click here to learn more about Paper Pumpkin. The backgound behind the trees was created by masking 3/4″ from each side of my Whisper White cardstock with post-it notes and then sponging Soft Sky ink onto my cardstock to create the rectangle. Soft Sky is a past In Color from Stampin’ Up! that is part of the Color Refresh that will be happening when the new catalog is released June 1st. Check out my post tomorrow for all the details.

The weather is cold and dreary but you can shop my online store from the comfort of your own home! Click here to shop now. Don’t forget to check out the retiring products list. Click here and you can download the PDF lists of all retiring accessories and stamps.

Paper Pumpkin – April 2013

papaer pumpkin box

Don’t you just love surprises? I do. One of the really fun things about the Paper Pumpkin subscription program is that each month you get a little surprise in the mail. (Just a note- I am a day late in posting my samples from the April 2013 Paper Pumpkin kit but I knew you would understand. Yesterday was such a big day as Stampin’ Up! posted their annual lists of all of the wonderful stamp sets and accessories that will be retiring from their product lines. I also have to tell you that as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I was able to view the new catalog online and it is amazing. You probably think I say that every year ( and I do – because it is!) I think the new catalog has a different feel this year and I can’t wait to show you some of the new products!) But back to Paper Pumpkin…

Each month when you get your shipment, you get all of the supplies you need to complete a quick and fun stamping project. The only thing you need to provide is adhesive.

Paper Pumpkin April 2013

The April kit included all of the supplies pictured here. Enough to make 4 cards.

For my first card I followed the instructions provided. A quick, easy card.

Then I played with the kit elements a little to come up with  another layout design. I really like the “Seriously” saying and I can see adding this to other cards and scrapbook pages. The only downside to the Paper Pumpkin subscription program is that if you are not signed up and a kit comes out that you really like, you are unable to go back and order past month’s kits. So get signed up! At just $19.95 per month with free shipping – this is a really great deal. Especially for those of you that feel like you are too busy to create. I just spoke to Vickie, one of my subscribers, last night. She got her kit in the mail Wednesday of last week and was able to make all of her cards Friday night. I am so happy that you are enjoying Paper Pumpkin, Vickie!

Hey There Friend

hey friend 1

Have you signed up for Paper Pumpkin yet? Yesterday I shared a post that included the supplies that come in your first month kit once you subscribe. Today I am featuring a card that I am sending out to all of my Paper Pumpkin subscribers. Don’t you love the Designer Builder Brads (129329) from the Spring mini catalog?

hey friend detail

The card is included as part of a gift I am sending to everyone who selects me as their demonstrator when they subscribe to Paper Pumpkin. Included each month in your subscription are clear mount stamps so I have created a case for you to store your stamps in. I used My Digital Studio to create an insert for the Stampin’ Up! clear mount stamp cases (119105). (By the way – Did you see that Stampin’ Up! recently reduced the price of My Digital Studio to just $19.95? I just love working with this amazing software.  Anyway – I seem to be getting sidetracked.) The clear mount case insert that I designed has plenty of space on the cover for you to stamp your images as you get them each month.

The spine of your case was designed to match your other clear mount stamp sets. You will be able to tell that these are your Paper Pumpkin stamps!

Paper Pumpkin Welcome kit

Paper pumpkin welcome 1

The first month of the Paper Pumpkin stamping subscriptions arrived last month! (Month #2 just arrived.) I am so excited about this program. If you haven’t heard about Paper Pumpkin yet you can click here to see one of my earlier posts. A full color instruction sheet is included with each shipment. No matter when you sign up you will always receive the kit featured in this post as your “Welcome” kit. After that each month is a surprise. Your welcome kit includes all of the supplies to make 4 cards. For my first card I followed the instruction sheet that was included in my kit.

Paper pumpkin welcome 2

After my first card was completed I started to play with the elements that were included and came up with some more layout ideas. I also “stepped up” my cards a little by simply adding some Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine (125572).

Paper pumpkin welcome 3

For my last card I stamped the “hey there friend” greeting three times. Stamp your greeting three times in a row without reinking to get the fading effect. Or if you are like me and want to make sure you have words lined up nicely try using a Stamp-a-majig for perfect placement.
